Against wishes of state, IPS officer gets extension of 3 more yrs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 27: Against the wishes of state government, an IPS officer of J&K cadre has got extension in his central deputation by three more years. Keshav Ram Choursia, a 2003 batch IPS officer, had proceeded on central deputation in June 2012 and was posted in CBI. His deputation period expired in June this year. Police sources said while the state, which was faced with the shortage of senior police officers, had been trying to call him back, he managed to get his central deputation extended by three more years. His deputation would now expire in 2019. The decision to extend his deputation was taken by the CBI selection board in its meeting held in New Delhi a few days back. "His extension letter says since the officer is engaged in the investigation of Coal Block scam, he can't be sent back at this stage. The state government has put its seal on the CBI letter," sources informed. One more IPS officer of the state cadre is also on deputation to CBI but his deputation period is yet to expire. |
