12 Indian, 1 PoK truck loads cross LoC | Business as usual at LoC | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report
Baramulla, Sept 27: The barter trade resumed at LoC today post Uri attack in which 19 Indian soldiers were martyred. The trade was also halted due to continuous strike in Kashmir valley from past two and half months. Meanwhile 12 trucks of goods from Indian side crossed LoC, one truck from PoK turned here in Salamabad Facilitation Center of Uri town in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. The trade on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road between the two sides of Kashmir was suspended on July 12, while as the Karwan-e Aman bus service was also passed on from either sides of the Line of Control on Sept 19. Trader Nazir Ahmad (name changed) said that the provisions in Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) should be made strong in future so that their business will not be interrupted. According to sources, various traders had met with the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla few weeks back for his intervention, after which the traders held a series of meetings with the concerned officials of chamber and commerce to resume the trade without any further delay as businessmen suffered huge lossed worth crores due to Kashmir bandh. Meanwhile custodian of LoC trade Farooq Ahmad Shah told Early Times that, twelve trucks from Indian side while as one truck from PoK passed from either sides of LoC today. |
