HC grants more time to CBI to complete JKCA scam probe | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 27: The state high court today extended by three more months the time to CBI for completing its investigation in the multi-crore scam in J&K Cricket Association (JKCA). The direction was issued by a high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasathakumar and Justice A M Magrey while disposing of an application filed by the CBI through its Inspector. "No investigation could be carried out in the state due to the imposition of continuous curfew restrictions. Whatever progress was possible, it was done by carrying out the investigation in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan," the CBI said in the application. The India's premier investigation agency also stated that the bank accounts which were "clandestinely opened and operated for siphoning of funds of JKCA" had been traced. It said that money flow-chart had been prepared and concerned persons were being questioned. "Multiple bank accounts of different individuals in which funds of JKCA have been transferred during the relevant period have been also spotted and documents collected and reason for transfer of funds needs to be further investigated," it said. The high court had on March 9 last year handed over the probe to CBI , observing that police investigation lacked both speed and credibility and that lack of will to dig out the scamsters was writ large on the face of its performance. |
