JKMTCA holds meet | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 27: A meeting of J&K Motor Transports Companies Association, Jammu was held under the chairmanship of its President S Gajan Singh Khajuria and discussed transports issues. Welcoming the statements of Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri regarding overcharging of freight for transportation of fruit boxes, J&K Motor Transports Companies Association, Jammu also urged the minister to check overloading of the fruit in the Jammu and Kashmir State. In a meeting held today, Association members said due to overloading a number of accidents occurred on the national highway resulting in loss of many precious lives besides damaged of vehicles and loading material. They further said that if government regularly checks the overloading in the State it has increase the state exchequer and complete curb over the irregularities in revenue. They said that state roads are also under burden due to heavy traffic and overloading which can create more havoc resulting in damage of roads. They appealed the minister that in order to provide succour to the transporters, the government should compensate them uniformly the loss which they faced due to last three month unrest in the Kashmir Valley. They also urged the Minister to rationalize the freight charges of fruits and others material within the State so that transporters of all three regions do not have to suffer more in future. |
