Legal Assistant's selection stayed | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 4: High court judge Janak Raj Kotwal, in a petition challenging the selection of legal assistant, has ordered to stay the selection and appointment of a private respondent. The petitioner's counsel submitted that she qualified the written test conducted by the board and was shortlisted for the interview. When she appeared for the interview on May 16, 2016 along with original qualification certificates as required in terms of the advertisement notice, the interview committee did not conduct her interview for the reason that she was holding the state subject of Mendhar, Poonch, issued to her before marriage. She had not obtained the state subject after her marriage in Jammu district. She then filed a petition in the high court which issued a direction to the respondent to conduct her interview, but the respondents, without conducting her interview in terms of the court order, issued the select list whereby respondent No 4 was selected as legal assistant, district cadre, Jammu, who was far less meritorious as compared to the petitioner in terms of qualification and experience. Justice Kotwal observed that a strong case for indulgence had been found and ordered that subject to objections and till next date of hearing before the bench, the impugned selection and consequent appointment of the private respondent would remain stayed.
