Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 4: The Personal Assistant of MLA Billawar, has allegedly been using government machinery to woo voters from panchayats represented by opposition parties, by chairing a public grievance redressal meeting in rival's Panchayat, in which all officials of government departments were present.
While contesting the reports, Tehsildar of Ramkot Rahul Basotra claimed that Tehsildar office Ramkote had called the meeting in Ucchapind Panchayat but surprisingly it was the only meeting so far organized by tehsildar office and there are no future plans in near future, to organize more such meetings, which raises question.
Raising objections over the meeting allegedly called by PA to MLA Billawar, Sarpanch of Ucchapind Puran Chand Sharma said that on 27th of September, PA Vishal chaired a meeting in his panchayat in which Tehsildar Ramkote Rahul Basotra, BDO Nagrota Gujroo Pulkit Dutta, AEE PHE, AEE PDD and Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) were present.
"Vishal along with Mandal President BJP came first in Panchayat Ghar at around 11 AM, whereas Tehsildar, BDO and other officers came at around 11;30 AM on 27th of September. Vishal was sitting on the chair, placed in between the chair of Tehsildar and BDO and had been behaving like MLA Billawar", Sharma alleged, adding that most unfortunate part was that not even Sarpanch and eight Panches of Panchayat Ucchapind were invited in the meeting.
Sharma further said that instead of addressing the issues of villagers, allegations were leveled against the Sarpanches and Panches, who were associated with other parties. "The meeting was deliberately organized in Ucchapind on instructions of the mantri to target opposition Sarpanches and even official machinery was also used for the purpose of increasing the vote bank of Bhartiya Janta Party", he said, adding that MLA could take meetings but not his PA, which was total violation of constitution.
He further alleged that nearly six months back, PA had been chairing meetings but after objections were raised by Panchayat representatives same were stopped but once again, PA has started chairing meetings and even officials of department were also considering the PA as MLA Billawar.
Contesting the claims of Sarpanch, Tehsildar Ramkote Rahul Basotra said that it was a public grievance redressal meeting called by him in Ucchapind Panchayat and not by PA.
"PA Vishal was present in the meeting which was obvious as a public grievance redressal meeting can be attended by anyone", he said, adding that even photographs could give testimony that tehsildar chaired the meeting and not the PA", he said.
On being asked if more such meetings were organized by his office in past or have plans to organize meetings in near future, he replied in negative but said that he desired to hold more such meetings in panchayats.
