SRINAGAR, Oct 4: In a major concern for the Kashmiri society as a whole, the fight between the supporters and detractors of strike calendar as given by the separatists has reached a new low. Clashes between the two groups are going for some time now with many people castigating the separatists although in a clandestine manner.
Reports said that a group of people today set ablaze couple of auto rickshaws in the different areas of the summer capital of the state. These fire incidents drew sharp criticism from the people in general and they took a dig at the 'miscreants' who put the auto rickshaws on fire.
According to the reports a group of people stopped an auto rickshaw in the Saida Kadal area and asked the driver to de-board the rickshaw. The 'miscreants' took the keys from the driver and put the rickshaw on fire. The incident led to condemnation from the people who were standing and they registered their protest over the gutting of the auto rickshaw. Some of the people collected some amount and handed it over to the auto rickshaw so that his loss is compensated.
In a similar incident an auto rickshaw was put to blaze by the 'miscreants in the Gadood Bagh locality of the Habba Kadal area. Here too the miscreants took away the keys from the auto rickshaw driver before putting on fire the auto rickshaw. This incident also drew sharp criticism from the common masses that were on the road at that time.
It has been reported that the 'miscreants' in the Gadood Bagh locality snatch the keys of motor cycles and then throw the same in the Brari Nambal lagoon. Following this the motor cycle owners are forced to drag the motor cycles and take them to their respective destinations. So far the law enforcing agencies have failed to crack whip on these 'miscreants' and as such these people continue to create trouble for the general masses.
Reports said that a civilian sustained injuries during clashes between the supporters and detractors of the strike calendar in the Nowhatta area on Saturday. The incident occurred during the 'relaxation' as announced by the separatist leaders. Two groups clashed in the area resulting into injuries to a person who was boarding a car.
Some days back motor cycle of a press photographer was damaged to the hilt in the Chatabal area after he was moving there during the 'relaxation' period. The press photographer was told by the miscreants that they have their own schedule and they don't pay any heed to the programme as announced by the separatist leaders.
It would be in place to mention here that very few shops opened in the Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Budgam areas on September 25 after 2 PM. This was despite the fact that the separatists had asked the people to carry out normal business during the 'relaxation' period after 2 PM. In the recent past clashes have been reported from many areas between the supporters and detractors of the strike calendar as announced by the separatists.
