Workers highlight demands including release of wages, regularisation | | | Early Times report
Jammu, Oct 4: Claiming that wages have not been released by various departments for the last many years, casual workers, need-based workers, CP workers, land case workers, daily wagers and ITI-trained workers in a joint protest demonstration of All Departments Jammu Province today took out a protest rally in support of their long pending demands. Led by trade union leaders from different departments including Tanveer Hussain (PHE Deptt), Akhil Sharma (PDD), Puneet Sharma (Medical Deptt), Rajan Sharma (Agriculture Deptt), Shallo Ram (Forest Deptt), Anurag Sharma (Swach Jammu Sangrash Mission) JMC, Mrs. Kamla Sharma (Home Guard Police Deptt), Sikander Singh (Tourism Deptt the protestors staged a protest outside the Press Club of Jammu. Highlighting their demands, the speakers said that for the last many years, different departments have not released the monthly wages of workers and no policy has been framed to regularise their services. Workers want the government to pay them wages and end discrimination with Jammu workers. They also condemned the recently decision of JMC under which 467 workers were dismissed from the deptt and demanded reinstating of 467 workers with immediate effect. The workers condemned the decision of the government of hiking monthly salaries of ministers/MLAs/MLCs when they had not enough money to pay workers Rs 4,500 per month. They said that after 'Vishal Akrosh Rally' taken out in Jammu on Monday, the delegation of protestors met with the Additional Commissioner Jammu and Additional Divisional Commissioner Jammu Arun Manhas besides apprising them with their issues they also submitted memorandum/charter of demands to Chief Minister of J&K State through proper channel. |
