Poonch, Oct 4: Expressing anguish and shock over the injuries inflicted to several people and colossal damage caused to property in Sawjian and Shahpur near Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch due to unabated shelling from across the border by Pakistan, Youth National Conference Provincial President and former MLA Poonch Ajaz Jan today demanded due compensation to affected LoC dwellers. Assailing indifferent attitude of the PDP-BJP government towards the sufferers, NC leader said, "It is shocking that nobody from the administration, least to speak of political executives, visited the affected people so far to take stock of the situation and extend help to them." While undertaking extensive visit of the affected villages in Mandi area and interacting with the aggrieved border people, he said, "The affected families informed the former MLA how the situation turned volatile and they came under direct shelling, causing fear and insecurity among the border residents." Jan said 100 per cent damage has been caused to the property including 27 shops while several automobiles had also suffered damages. Youth National Conference Provincial President expressed solidarity with the sufferers and all those along the Line of Control (LoC) who had to leave their homes and hearths for safety. "There has to be some sort of mechanism to ensure safety of these people by relocating them to safer places with all amenities", he said, adding however that the coalition government seems to have absolved itself from its responsibilities. Seeking immediate survey of the damages caused to the property so that the sufferers are compensated, Jan besides this free treatment to the injured. |
