| Locals protest against industries polluting surroundings | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Oct 4: Alleging pollution of surrounding by some industrial units, the villagers from Battal Balian today staged a strong protest against about 15 industries for Cement and Insecticides established in the area.
Raising slogans against the district authorities and cement units, protesting people said that district administration has assured development of area acquiring land for the development of Industries in Battal Balian Udhampur despite establishment of 15 units there is no development but pollution of surroundings.
Sarpanch Ballian Man Mohan Raina who led the protestors said while skilled and unskilled youth of area have been deprived of employment the cement units are polluting are making people vulnerable to diseases like- asthama, skin diseases, eye diseases, digestion and etc. Protestors have requested to State Government to shift these industries of pesticides and cement some other area having no habitats. They also warned if their demand is not met at earliest they will be forced to come to roads. |
