Early Times Report
Kulgam, Oct 4: Suspected terrorists on Tuesday evening attacked Police Station Yaripora in Kulgam district of South Kashmir; however vigilant cops retaliated without suffering any damage. Reports said that at around 7:34pm, terrorists opened fire on Police Station Yaripora housing Army, SOG and CRPF units. They said that cops guarding the police station retaliated by firing around 15 rounds. DySP Headquarters Kulgam, Ashafaq Aalam confirmed the Firing incident to Early Times and said that terrorists opened fire on Police Station from a long distance. "Militant fire was retaliated without suffering any damage," he added. Suspected terrorists managed to strike and flee from the spot, sources said. They said that forces had cordoned off the nearby Village Surndoo and a search operation was conducted, however terrorists hiding somewhere in the village managed to escape. Officail sources said that forces have jointly launched a search operation around the police station to nab the terrorists. Operation was going on till late evening, they said. Since the killing of Hizb Commander Burhan Wani, the Kashmir Valley is witnessing unrest and militant activities have increased in Southern Kashmir. Apart from militant attacks, police have lost weapons in 'weapon snatching' incidents. Sources are claiming that the number of terrorists might have gone up due to weapon snatching incidents. |
