Jammu,Nov 13: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee today held an impressive Candle Light protest in Bikram Chowk area of Jammu City today over the issue of OROP and failure of the Modi Govt. on various other fronts. A large number of Congress activists including ex-servicemen and women workers led by senior PCC leaders held a strong protest in Bikram Chowk today evening raising slogans and carrying play cards criticizing the functioning of the Modi Govt. accusing it of hoodwinking the ex-servicemen and various other sections of the society by making false claims. The Protest March was the culmination of weeklong Candle March protests all over Jammu Province over the non implementation of OROP and the ill-treatment to the family of Shri Ram Kishan Grewal and detention of AICC Vice President Shri Rahul Gandhi for expressing solidarity and support to family. Leading the protest today, former Minister and Vice President PCC Shri Raman Bhalla accused the Modi Govt. and BJP of exploiting the ex-servicemen who were promised full implementation of One Rank One Pension Scheme but even after two and half year of coming to power, the ex-servicemen are agitating for their demands. He referred to the suicide of Shri Ram Kishan Grewal over the demand of OROP and strongly lashed out at the Modi Govt. for the insensitive and undemocratic treatment meted out to the family members of Shri Grewal and towards the opposition leaders. A large number of senior leaders including former Ministers M.S. Niaz, Shri Mula Ram, General Secretaries Vikram Mlahotra, Manmohan Singh Yogesh Sawhney, Shah Mohd. Choudhary, Namrata Sharma, DCC President Anil Chopra, Ex-MLAs Indu Pawar, Ashok Dogra, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Hari Singh Chib, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Neeraj Gupta, Pawan Raina, Sanjeev Sharma, Dr. Ramakant Khajuria, Satish Sharma (PYC), Amrit Bali, Bhupinder Singh, Kulbushan Sharma,Satish Kumar, Gourav Chopra, Sonu Dogra, Jatinder Chib, Sanjiv Luthra, S. Rajinder Skingh, Praveen Singh, Bhupinder Kour, Chanchal Popli, Ravinder Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Vipin Sharma, Sandeep Angral, Nimran Deep, S. Rinku, Dewan Chand, Paras Ram and others participated in the protest. |
