Traders were defying diktats of separatists | 30 shops gutted in Kupwara market | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 13: A massive fire broke out in the old at Iqbal Market in north Kashmir's Kupwara town, 80 kilometers from here, on Sunday evening, reports said. They said, fire emanated from a shop in the market around 7:00pm and engulfed the entire market. At least 30 shops were damaged in the fire incident. Nearly 6 fire tenders rushed to the spot as the fire spread. The fire fighters faced difficulty in bringing the fire under control as the area is congested. A police officer said that a fire broke out in a shopping complex at Iqbal Market near Sub District Hospital Kupwara. He said cause of fire is not known. Pertinently, traders in Kupwara town, located close to the Line of Control (LoC), had called off the shutdown nearly two weeks ago and were defying the diktats of separatists and Pak agents, who have taken the Valley hostage for the past more than four months. |
