Sports Council screening just a formality | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 13: The screening of the teams prior to their departure for the national level competitions has become just a formality with J&K State Sports Council making it mere a one man show in most of the cases. In the recent happenings, the Divisional Officer of the Sports Council had ordered screening of two teams heading for the national events in the disciplines of Handball and Basketball through a four-member penal. The penal included Joint Secretary, Shiv Kumar Sharma, senior members, Siddharth Sharma, Krupali Singh and Divisional Officer, Rajan Sharma. However, on the day of screening, in both these events, only an officer of the rank of Manager turned up and looked into various aspects of the selected teams in Handball and Basketball thereby approved the sanctions. "This has not happened for the first time, for the last six months or so, it has become a routine by the Sports Council to officially depute a full screening penal and then send an officer on an important duty of looking into the capabilities and legalities of the selected boys and girls, a senior coach told on the condition of anonymity. |
