The PoJK Refugees uprooted from Muzafarabad, Poonch and Mirpur Districts of Jammu and Kashmir state in the year 1947 alongwith displaced Chhamb Refugees of 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars assembled at Shaheedi Sthal to observe the Martyrs' Day. Speaking on the occasion front leaders remembered the unfortunate 50,000 men, women and children who were butchered by Kabailies hired by Pakistan.. They also lamented that It is a matter of concern that the families uprooted from POJK 70 years ago yet have not been paid compensation of the properties left behind because of step motherly treatment of the previous State Government of NC-Congress governments. They said, "Government of India vide cabinet order 578C of 1954 sanctioned settlement package but the State Govt didn't implement the package fully even after a period of 70 years after their displacement." They recalled that the economic package was sanctioned by the NDA Government on 9th August 2000 but the then State Government took no interest in implementation of the package and further alleged then PRO Jammu disbursed thirty five crores through corrupted means i.e. without any prior notification They said the present central regime under PM Modi too has sanctioned settlement of Rs Two thousand crores in Dec 2015 ironically PRO Jammu and Additional Commissioner Jammu (in the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu) yet have not started the process even after a a lapse of one full year. They cautioned the authorities that scrutiny of documents of all the DPs (Camp and non-camp 1947, 1965 and 1975) should be properly verified and any vilification will not be tolerated. The final settlement cannot be complete unless all genuine displaced the families are settled on equal basis. |
