Visiting MCI team rebukes senior faculty, Principal remains mute spectator | High voltage drama at GMC&H | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 24: A high voltage drama was witnessed in the chamber of Principal of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu when heated arguments took place between faculty members and inspection team of Medical Council of India (MCI) -which was on a two day visit to GMC&H Jammu and its associated hospital. Reliable Sources within GMC&H told Early Times that three member team from MCI reached GMC&H Jammu for inspection on Wednesday after 6 months. "During last visit of the team, the Principal had filed affidavit to meet up the shortcomings pointed out by the team as soon as possible but six months later, the needful has not been done, "Sources stated. "On Wednesday morning, when the team came to know that the administration had failed to overcome shortcomings despite repeated interventions by MCI team, one of the team members (instructor) got disappointed and angry with non-seriousness approach of administration, "a group of doctors said adding that the faculty members had to face anger of the MCI team for the follies of the administration. "One of the team members started unwarranted arguments with the staff and even used unparliamentary language", a source informed. "The member got agitated when some representatives from SMGS hospital reached for the meeting late and started misbehaving with them. Few of faculty members asked the member to behave' and interact with faculty members with respect which triggered heated arguments with faculty members and the member of the MCI team which carried on for a long time. Slamming the role of Principal of GMC&H Jammu, who remained mute spectator, the doctors alleged that an outsider had misbehaved with the senior faculty members who were directed to be there during the visit of the visiting MCI team. "It seems the high violate drama took place with the involvement of administration-----which firstly failed to inform all faculty members timely and Principal failed to contain the agitated member of the inspecting team, "doctors further alleged. |
