Asst Professors selection: 26% from Jammu, 74% from Kashmir | Discrimination, BJP silent! | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 24: The cryptic silence of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Ministers over discrimination meted out with candidates from Jammu province in selection of Assistant Professors, only signals that its ministers are also part and parcel in furthering this decade long discrimination, end of which was most prominent slogan of BJP, before enjoying cozy chambers of power. The latest selection list of Assistant Professors for the posts of History subject, published by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is another example of discrimination as only 26 percent candidates from Jammu province found place as compared to 74 percent from Kashmir province, which falls in selection list in open merit category. Out of total 34 posts of Assistant Professors in Open category only nine candidates of Jammu get a place while majority are, that is 24 are from Kashmir province, while there is not a single candidate from Ladakh province. The selected candidates of Kashmir province in OM category are Nisar Ahmed Kumar of Anantnag, Hashim Iqbal Malik of Anantnag, Kowsher Ahmed Ganai of Anantnag, Aushaq Hussain Dar of Pulwama, Fayaz Ahmed of Baramulla, Tariq Bashir of Anantnag, Bilal Ahmed Parray of Anantnag, Younus Rashid of Budgam, Zahid Fayaz Darzi of Baramulla, Masrat John of Anantnag, Qazi Mohammad Shaheen of Bandipora, Mohammad Zubair ud din of Budgam, Zubair Ahmed Thoker of Baramulla, Ali Mohammad Pir of Kupwara, Altaf Hussain Wani of Anantnag, Khalid Bashir of Baramulla, Jamsheed Ahmed Bhat of Anantnag, Safeer Ahmed Bhat of Shopian, Abbas Ali Baig of Srinagar, Tariq Ahmed Bhat of Bandipora, Sheraz Ahmed Lone of Kulgam, Sadaf Sonullah of Srinagar, Shahid Shafi of Kulgam, Abdul Rashid Sheikh of Kupwara and Brijish Jahan of Srinagar. Moreover, in the 15 posts of RBA category, seven candidates are from Jammu while eight are from Kashmir province. While for six posts under ST category, only one is from Jammu while two are from Srinagar and three are from Latah. In two posts under ALC category both candidates are from Jammu while in SLC category the only candidate is from Kashmir province. The BJP had been routinely raking-up the issue of discrimination with Jammu province, only to attain power and since its leaders have attained power, they have turned silent, which only showed the true colour of BJP leaders, who are only interested for their chair, said aspiring candidates. Some candidates expressed their resentment against the JKPSC for its discriminatory attitude and some candidates vent their anger on social networking sites. |
