Patients shiver at CD hospital | No heating system in place | | Majid Nabi Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 24: Patients with chronic bronchitis admitted in valley's lone chest diseases hospital at Dalgate are shivering with cold as the sanatorium besides requisite paraphernalia lacks heating facility. The patients alleged that the administration has miserably failed to provide heating facility to them which has compounded their problems. "Patients with chronic bronchitis needs warmth which as per doctors is essential for an asthmatic, but the hospital lacks this vital requirement that too in this bone chilling cold which is unfortunate, we have raised the issue with the administration many times but nothing was done," Umer Asif an attendant whose one of the family members is admitted in CD hospital told 'Early Times'. He said that the patients are shivering with cold inside the wards while some develops serious breathing problems as they could not bear the cold that add to their problems. "There is no other hospital in Kashmir where a patient with bronchitis could be treated so people prefer to come here. Once patient is being admitted he starts complaining about the basic facilities," said Asif. Attendants said that they could afford expansive medicine for the patient but succumbs when it comes to basic facility like heating. "If we are being asked to get medicine from the market we never argue, in fact we get medicines from the open market always as the medicine essential for asthmatic is not available in the hospital, but it is impossible for us to arrange heaters for our patients," said Tariq Ahmad whose grandfather is admitted at CD hospital. The patients and their attendants appealed the Director Health to ensure proper heating facilities for the patients so that they could not suffer anymore. |
