Baramulla, Nov 25: In less than 24 hours, two LeT militants and one solider were killed today after gunfight rages between ultras and security forces in Manzpora area of Naidkhai village in Bandipora district, one militant apprehended in Tujjer Shareef of Sopore town, while as search operation was re-launched in Kralgund area of Handwara after militants attacked police station on Thursday late evening.A top rank police official said that, " on a tip off information about the presence of 2 militants in Manzpora Naidkhai, a joint team of Army, police and SOG had cordoned off the whole area and launched search operation on Friday morning. In the initial gunfire, two terrorists of Lashkar-e Toiba (LeT) were neutralized in an encounter, while as one solider was also killed, adding the identification of these two terrorists was not immediately ascertained, the official told early times.The official further said that, "2 AK-47 rifles, AK-47 rounds, 2 wireless sets, 10 magazines, pouches, mobile phones, cash and other war like store were recovered from the encounter site. However sources said that, "As the encounter ended hundreds of youth assembled in Naidkhai Chowk and staged pro freedom and pro militant slogans as they were demanding bodies of the Slain terrorists. Pertinently on Nov 22, two terrorists were killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Bonikhan Hajin of Bandipora district. Meanwhile in Tujjer Shareef area of Sopore town, one militant was apprehended by a joint team of police and Army. A senior police official said that, a militant fired upon the security forces after which the senior citizens of this area and father of a local militant were brought in to persuade him to surrender before the security forces, a month ago the militant had joined LeT terrorists outfit. Superintendent of police (SP) Sopore, Harmeet Singh told early times that, " a local militant fired upon police party with his pistol, after which he was apprehended. He was identified as Majeed Mir S/O Bashir Ahmad Mir of Nowpora Tujjer Shareef. "Huge cache of arms and ammunition including 1 pistol, and its 7 rounds, 1 magazine, 2 hand grenades, 30 AK-47 rounds, 1 GPS, 1 Matrix sheet and other war like store were recovered from his possession, adding the brief encounter is over. Meanwhile on Thursday late evening, terrorists had attacked Kralgund police station in Handwara area of Kupwara district by resorting fire and hurled a grenade on the police station. After retaliation by police, the terrorists had escaped from the spot after which search operation was relaunched today by a joint team of Army, police and SOG in the area to nab the terrorists. |
