Budgam Bank robbery case solved, five persons arrested: Police | 'OGW module of LeT involved in crime' | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 25: Police today claimed to have solved the bank robbery case by arresting five members of a module of a terrorist group. The robbery had taken place in a branch of Jammu & Kashmir Bank in Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Monday. A police spokesman said that Pulwama Police has busted an Over Ground Worker (OGW) module of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist outfit by arresting five persons who were involved in the bank robbery at Maloora-Charar-i-Sharief, Budgam. "On November 21, unidentified gunmen barged into the Jammu & Kashmir Bank branch at Malpora, Charar-i-Sharief and looted about 14 lakh rupees. Based upon specific leads about the incident Pulwama Police zeroed in on one Mohammad Iqbal Wani resident of Chewa Kalan. His arrest and disclosures further led to Farooq Ahmad Bhat and Tanvir Alam Wani also the residents of Chewa Kalan," said police spokesman. The police spokesman said that during questioning, it was found that the trio ran an OGW module of LeT terrorist outfit. They revealed that conspiracy of robbery was hatched and masterminded by one Arif Dar alias Abu Haibat-ul-lah resident of Lelhar-Kakapora, an active local terrorist of LeT outfit. "The local terrorist received support of two terrorists of foreign origin. These foreign terrorists have been identified as Abu Ali and Abu Ismail. They provided all the support for facilitating the dacoity, including transportation, logistics and conducting of recee etc. The group also used the services of Tanvir Bhat and Raqeeb Rather residents of Chewa Kalan Pulwama," said the police spokesman. The police spokesman said that five persons namely Mohammad Iqbal Wani son of Wali Mohammad Wani, Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Wani, Tanveer-ul-Alam Wani son of Ghulam Rasool Wani, Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and Raqeeb Rather, all residents of Chewa Kalan involved in the crime have been arrested. He said the hunt is on for other persons involved in the crime. |
