J&K Police on toes, strengthens security on boundaries with HP, Punjab | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 27: Against the backdrop of escape of Khalistan Liberation Force chief Harminder Singh Mintoo and four others with the help of 10 armed men from Nabha jail in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir Police have tightened its security grid along boundaries with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. "We are ready and have enhanced the security grid further," Pawan Parihar, SSP Kathua here told UNI. Kathua district of J&K shares boundaries with Punjab and HP. "Alert has been sounded and our cops are maintaining vigil on every vehicle coming from Punjab towards J&K," the top cop said. He added that the routes, which are internally linked with Punjab are also being monitored, adding that "we have raised the check points and deployed additional forces so that the escaped terrorists do not enter the state." Meanwhile, security has also been tightened in Bani-Basholi areas of the district, which are closely connected to HP. In Jammu also, the security blanket has been enhanced while directions have been issued to the cops to remain extra vigilant and keep hawk's eye on every vehicle especially those having Punjab and HP registration numbers. |
