Passage of Kashmiri Shrines, Temples Bill gets setback within Community | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 27: The passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill has received a big setback with a group of Kashmiri Pandits and organisations involved in management of few shrines in Valley have constituted a management Board on their own without waiting for passage of Bill by the State Legislative Assembly as was the general demand of the community. The decision by these few temple management committees is seen as a great setback to the demand of Kashmiri Pandits regarding passage of the Bill to constitute an independent Board for management of Hindu shrines in Valley, sources said. Sources said the Board which was constituted by the representatives of Zeashta Devi Prabandhak Committee and some small group of lesser known management committees had divided the Kashmiri Pandits on social as well as religious platform. Earlier Pandits were divided on political platform as there were about 100 organisations in the community working on their separate agendas and policies. However the division on social and religious platform is viewed seriously by KP think tank and they term it a serious issue. The newly constituted shrine Board which is holds two day exhibition at Kala Kendra from November 26 and 27 on the condition of Hindu shrines in Valley has appealed all the management committees of individual shrines and religious places in Valley to join the Board. Sources said the conflict within community over the constitution of Board has given an excuse to the State government to delay the passage of Bill and the pressure being exerted by the community has been neutralized. Sources said community think tank is totally perturbed over the role of the newly constituted board in this regard saying that these people have no mandate from the community and have sent confusing signals among the community. Sources said there are presently three KP organizations pursuing the cause of Hindu shrines and temples in Valley. These include Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust, All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) and newly constituted Board led by Zeshta Devi Prabandhak Committee. While PNBMT and APMCC are demanding constitution of Board by government through a legislation Zeshta Devi Prabandhak Committee with the help of some lesser known temple bodies have constituted a board on their own giving a setback to the demand of two other organisations. |
