Jammu, Nov 27: In an embarrassing incident, a Cabinet Minister was caught on the wrong foot when he did not know about an important infrastructure under his own department and asked his subordinates to message him the address of the building.
According to sources, a senior Minister, holding one of the important portfolios in the government, despite being in charge for years is still unaware of his departmental infrastructure.
"Minister received call from a journalist, regarding functioning of particular building of the concerned department, but to the surprise of all, the Minister asked the journalist to text him details of the building as he had no knowledge about the same," said sources, adding that the Minister was unaware of the building that was built at the cost of several crores.
"When the journalist did not share address of the building, the Minister asked subordinates to tell him about the building," sources said.
Sources added that this is not the only building the Minister has no knowledge about, but there are several other important buildings of the concerned department across the state, where Minister had never visited.
"The Minister hardly visits all the areas to take stock of the available infrastructure. He remains confined to Srinagar and Jammu only, while as rest of the 20 districts of the state remain unattended," said sources, adding that the Minister in question also expressed ignorance when asked about policies and schemes under his Ministry.
If sources are to be believed the Minister continues to hold the cabinet post since the formation of this government, but till date he has confined himself to civil secretariat and official documents only and has seldom ventured into the field. |
