KPs at cross roads, growing inter -caste marriages worries community | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 1: Kashmiri Pandits are at the cross roads of history as the rich culture and traditions which was a unique identity of the community is getting eroded day by day with the younger generation getting delinked from its roots. This has been a cause of concern among the community people who are leading anexiled life for last 27 years in other parts of country and Jammu as Kashmir has been made out of boundd for them after the separatists launched an anti India movement way back in 1989-90 and made the Pandits their main target after labelling them Indian agents and nationalists by core. The 27 year exile and failure of Government to rehabilitate the Pandits in their homeland is fast delinked the community's younger generation from its roots and ancient rich cultural heritage of which they were feeling proud of. The community's most concern is failure of Government to take concrete steps to save the community by protecting its ancient culture which was a part of great Indian civilization. As Governemnt failed to take steps the younger genration of community which were deprived of livelihood opportuniies in the State are forced to migrate to other parts of country for earning their living. In the process the youth got intermingled in other communities of India and in the process have adopted the same culture. The main draw back of the presnt turmoil has been the inter caste marraiges which are at galore in the community and which is worrying the older generation said Vinod Tickoo of Jagti township and a representative of the community. Tickoo said that the community is at the cross roads of history as its younger generation including male and female are fast marrying outside the community which is affecting the culture fast. If this trend continues the community will extinct someday said, Tickoo, adding that the Government of India is totally responsible for the same as history will not forgive it for its failure in protecting one of the richest Hindu civilizations of the country. about whom Adi Gurushankaracharya, Swami Vivekanda and RSS second Sarsangchalak Guru Golevalkar has made tremendous remarks during their stay in Valley. Tickoo said if the Government of India fails to fulfill its responsibility towards the community and preservation of this ancient civilization it will be a great setback to India's cultural ethos and the protagonists of Akhand Bharat. The same has been the views of Deshrattan president AMCCC who is totally perturbed over the growing inter cast marriages in the community. He said this trend is signaling the extinction of one of the richest civilizations of India and the Government of India will be accused by historians of putting the last nail in the coffin. Rattan said the awakening in the community is must to stop the trend but unfortunately those who were advocating for the same have failed to educate their own family members first. |
