GMC goes behind mentioned time to declare result | MBBS Examination 'scam' surfaces | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: Alleged MBBS examination scam surfaced in Government Medical Collage (GMC) Jammu as faculty took three months to evaluate answer scripts and declare the results. According to sources final semester examination of MBBS students began in July and concluded in August 2016, but the results were declared in November. "Theory and practical exam of MBBS students were concluded in August, and as per University's statutes the results were to be declared within 15-20 days, but the results declared on November 2, 2016", sources said and added that it took almost two and half months to declare the results. "It smells something fishy cooks in evaluation process, and things in medical college have gone worse", said one of MBBS student appeared for his exam. It is also being alleged that the answers scripts are being tampered to pass, those blue eyed who even do not secure passing marks. He further said that even patients of several MBBS students have approached GMC and University of Jammu seeking time declaration of result. They further said that the University of Jammu had several time reminded the Dean Faculty of Medical Sciences GMC Jammu to re-look into the academic calendar and other pressing issues. "For the last few months, a number of students as well as parents have approached with the plea that the MBBS course being run by the University is getting stretched and the MCI guidelines to complete the course within 4.5 years at every stage being compromised", copy of communiqué sent to Dean Faculty Medical Science GMC Jammu by Controller of Examination JU, date 20th October 2016 read. The document further read, "The University has been taking initiative by notifying the calendar of the examinations well before the start of the semester/at the time of star of year in all other courses. As such, an Academic Calendar after detailed discussion in your Board of Studies meeting. After due adherence of the MCI guidelines will certainly help this office in executing the schedule of examinations as well as timely declaration of results for the overall benefits of the student community at large", the communiqué read. Meanwhile, the university also turned-down GMC's request seeking grace marks in practical examination. "In the case of endorsement for grant of five-grace-marks in the practical examination to the students of MBBS final professional from Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Jammu, the matter was deliberated in the meeting of the Campus Deans and it has been decided that the present Statute of giving grace marks in theory only be followed", sources said. |
