Jammu, Dec 1: 59th Foundation Day of CSIR-IIIM, Jammu was celebrated at the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM) Jammu here today. Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Kashmir was the chief guest of this function. As part of celebrations, different cultural and sports activities were held in which Scientific, Technical, administrative staff beside research scholars and students participated. On this occasion, about 300 students from different colleges and schools of Jammu city were also taken on a guided visit to the various research divisions and medicinal farms of the institute. The Scientists and Technical staff have demonstrated their indoor and field research activities to the visiting students and other dignitaries. An impressive function was organized in auditorium of IIIM to celebrate the IIIM Foundation Day. Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, Director, IIIM Jammu while welcoming Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, the chief guest, introduced him to the audience. Dr. Ram described him Prof. Faculty of Horticulture at SKUAST, Kashmir who known for extension activities. He further said that as a horticulture expert, he executed number of special assignments as Chairman, Co-Chairman and Member of various committees, international delegation and conferences. He received Rajbhasha Gaurav award. Dr. R. S. Paroda Award; Dr. M. H. Marigowda National Endowment Award; Dr. Kirti Singh Gold Medal; Vijay Shree Award; Glory of India Gold Medal and Chaudhary Devilal Outstanding award for best AICRP (VC & Potato) for his contribution to agricultural research and education in temperate region and is a Fellow of Indian Society of Vegetable Science, Horticultural Society of India, Indian Society of Horticultural Research and Development and Confederation of Horticultural Associations of India Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, the chief Guest of the function had delivered the foundation day lecture entitled, "Horticulture for Nutritional and Livelihood Security". |
