RAMBAN, Dec 3: To observe World Disability day an awareness rally was organized by Education Department Ramban under IED component of Serva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) followed by a colourful programme, here today. Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ramban, Neelam Kumar Langeh was the chief guest on the occasion who flagged off the rally. The programme was presided by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ramban Ravinder Nath Sadhu while DPO, ICDS Ashok Pandita, DSWO, Varunjeet Singh Charak, Deputy Chief Education Officer (DyCEO) , Ramban, Bal Ji Thaplu, Medical Superintendent (MS), District Hospital, Ramban, Dr. Saifuddin Khan, ZEO, Ramban, Zubeda Begum, Principal, BVM High School, Pradeep Singh Thakur, ZEPO, Ramban, Firdoz Ahmed, ZRPs, Pawan Kumar and Ghandarb Singh besides the ASHA and Anganwadi workers were present on the occasion. On the occasion many a specially-abled children presented their views and cultural items before an impressive gathering besides participating in painting competition and modeling. Expressing his satisfaction over the celebration of the day MLA Ramban assured that he would raise the issues pertaining to the persons especially the specially abled children in the forthcoming Assembly session and underlined the need to organise frequent awareness camps for the government facilities and schemes provided by the government. He exhorted the people to not to discourage or hurt the feelings of the disabled persons but to encourage and support them. He informed that 12 scooties and 7 Wheel Chairs were provided by the Social Welfare department to the needy persons in Ramban district in recent months. MS, Dr. Khan informed that about 15 % of Indian population consists of specially abled persons and the aim of this year's World Disabled Day is 'to achieve the 17 goals for the disabled persons'. |
