3 police officers under IT Deptt scanner | Demonetization Aftermath | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 3: As the government is trying to track anonymous properties and scanning benami lands post demonetization move, at least three JK Police officers are under the scanner of Income Tax Department for their alleged illegal cash transaction deals in recent days. These officers are learnt to have indulged in heavy cash deals and invested their money mostly in land and gold purchases. Sources said three Police officers, two of the rank of DSPs and one Inspector have come under IT department's scanner as the latter have flicked through some 'ambiguous' deals made by these officers through heavy cash transactions and invested heavily in benami properties not only in Jammu district but also in Udhampur, Akhnoor and Kathua. Besides the IT department officials have also tracked these officers having spent their black money in purchase of gold items post demonetization of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes. According to the sources, it has come to light during the investigation, that in reality, while these officers are the the owners of many properties but, on paper, the owner of their newly purchased properties, mostly lands in prime locations is different, which is why all these deals are seen as illegal in more than one way. Sources also said while all these officers are learnt to have amassed huge wealth from alleged corrupt practices, one of them is widely known for being thoroughly corrupt. He has been making good use of money not only in lavish luxurious life style, but spending heavily for getting postings of his own choice, sources said, adding that on the basis of his 'black money' kitty he has very often got plum and prize postings. Sources said while the IT department is likely to tighten noose around these identified officers, authorities in the concerned Police department have also taken serious note of their activities of illegal cash transactions and investments in benami property . This after departmental enquiry, may get translated into some serious action against the said officers, sources added. |
