| Govt to involve coaches, players to purchase sports equipment | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 3: In a bid to have transparent working and corruption free system, Jammu and Kashmir Government has planned to involve coaches and outstanding players to purchase sports equipment for different games for the year 2017-18.
''The Central Purchase Committee of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council held a detailed meeting on rate conducting for buying sports goods and equipment for the year 2017-18 under the chairmanship of Secretary Wahid Parra,'' reliable sources here said.
They said that the tender process has been completed and the representatives of companies selling the sports goods also attended the meeting wherein suggestions floated that the professional coaches and outstanding/experienced players shall be involved for purchasing the items.
''Coaches and players of respective games are likely to be deputed to purchase sports equipment,'' sources said, adding that the players and coaches, who will be neutral and impartial, will be of great help in making genuine and up to the mark purchase for better results in the field of sports.
''The coaches and players alongwith the purchasing committee members will also be sent outside the state to purchase the equipment if required and the department will bear all the expenses,'' the sources added.
Ranjeet Kalra, member Purchase Committee and Vice Chairman, District Jammu, State Sports Council told that such suggestions were tabled in the meeting and they will also be taken into consideration.
''We simply want that those who actually have to use the equipment in all the sports (coaches/players), must be taken on board during the purchase so that good quality product can be provided for outstanding results,'' Kalra asserted.
He further added that the games and sports having shortage of coaches, in such cases professional coaches from Sports Authority of India, University of Jammu, J&K Police Department, can be hired while purchasing the equipment.
''Idea behind was just to maintain transparency vis-a-vis to provide A class equipment to our sportspersons, who sweat hard day and night to bring laurels for the state and nation as well but due to poor infrastructure, they sometimes are not able to give their 100 percent despite having no dearth of talent,'' said Kalra. |
