Take on separatists opposing certificate to WPRs: GoI to JK | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 22: The Union Home Ministry has asked the state government to deal firmly with the separatists and their supporters for trying to create to unrest over the issuance of domicile certificate to West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) settled in Jammu. The ministry has also decided to launch a vigorous campaign to expose the Hurriyat for its opposition to humanitarian issues. According to sources, the ministry has communicated to the top officials of the state government that such protests should not be allowed to gain any kind traction as it has potential to snowball into a major disturbance in the Valley. The officials have been directed to take all necessary measures including calling force to keep those fanning trouble indoors. "We have clearly told the state government that we won't tolerate any disturbance on this account. It's a humanitarian issue affecting lives of thousands of people. We have done our bit to start process of giving some sort of livelihood to these refugees. Now it's the duty of the state government that this misinformation campaign is checked. We have already taken a heavy toll and can't allow such forces to start another cycle of violence, which could also affect the refugees," said the top official. There are other things which the ministry has planned on this issue which could be a double-edged weapon and will expose the Hurriyat in a big way. "We are planning to have carpet campaigning on this issue. The campaign will be on two lines. Firstly, it will educated the people across the country on the issues of the WPRs. Secondly, we will tell the people how the WPRs are being denied even the basic rights by the Hurriyat that claims to be the champions of human rights. It will help us hugely in building the public perception and pressure on solving this issue and would further alienate the Hurriyat leadership," said the official. |
