Medical authorities harassing us, allege Amarnath pilgrims | | | Ashwani Sharma
Early Times Report
Udhampur, Mar 17: The pilgrims intending to visit Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine this year to pay obeisance are being allegedly harassed by the medical authorities here. A devotee Ashok Kumar and his friend from Udhampur said, "We have been visiting the holy cave for the past 33-years. This year we are being asked to produce medical certificate from the doctor." "For that certificate when we reached district hospital Udhampur today the doctor asked us to get certain blood tests done. After paying the prescribed fee for those tests we were asked by the laboratory people to come at 1:00 pm. When we reached there to get the report we were told to come again at 2:00 pm," Kumar and his friend informed. They said that this continued and ultimately they got the report after 3:00 pm. "By that time the doctor had left and now we will be available on Monday," they rued. They said, "They are just wasting our time and nothing else." They demanded that such harassment of Amarnath pilgrims should end and the concerned authorities should immediately look into the matter. Another pilgrim Sohan who too faced similar harassment said that Shrine Board should depute some doctors in all the districts for this particular job to facilitate the pilgrims. Many local organizations have also expressed concern over the harassment being done to the Amarnath pilgrims. When contacted Chief Medical Officer K C Dogra said that he would look into the matter. |
