Anantnag, June 7: Alert cops on Thursday late evening dashed the plan of militants to snatch weapons from Advocate General's home in South Kashmir's Mattan town. As per official sources, a group of three to four militants attacked a police post guarding the house of Advocate General, Jehangir Iqbal at Mattan at around 10:05 pm. However vigilant cops repulsed, forcing militants to flee from the area. Confirming the incident, SSP Anantnag Altaf Khan told a local news agency that the militants approached the police post guarding the Advocate General's house in Mattan with an intention to loot weapons. "However, the alert sentry retaliated the fire as a result of which the militants fled, thus repulsed the attempt of weapon snatching," he said, adding the area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. Family members of Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal also confirmed the incident. They informed Early Times that Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal was not present at home however his parents were inside house when militants attempted to snatch weapons from cops. |
