JK seeks age relaxation in IAS exam, denies same for KAS aspirants | Govt's hypocrisy exposed | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: Though the state government vociferously sought age relaxation for the aspirants of J&K in the Indian Civil Services exams, it has reduced the age limit for the aspirants of Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) from 35 to 32 years. As per an order (No: PSC/Exam/2018/38) issued by the J&K Public Service Commission, a total of 70 posts were advertised. The minimum age limit for the aspirants is 21 years and the upper age limit is 32 years. "In all the previous notifications, the upper age limit for the aspirants was 35 years, which has now been reduced to 32 years, which is injustice with the aspirants", an aspirant said. He said the State Civil services exams were not regular like the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams, but still upper age limit has been reduced. Castigating the state government, the aspirants said whenever it comes to slamming the Union government, all state leaders are up in arms, but they never bother about their own mistakes and blunders. "The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Exams annually and without any delays. When the upper age limit relaxation was not given to the aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti as well as leader of opposition Omar Abdullah had cried hoarse. But now everyone is silent when the premier recruitment agency is doing injustice with the youth of the state", another aspirant of Jammu said. The aspirants further said that Union Minister Dr. Jatinder Singh had agreed to the demand of J&K government and on his directions UPSC had given one-time relaxation of five years to J&K youth, but state government had forgotten while amending its rules of recruitment. "The situations in the state are not conducive, besides the JKPSC has failed to complete the recruitment process in timely manner. We want to ask the state government how shameful it is when they commit the same mistake but criticise the Union for the same", another aspirant said. Controller of Examination JKPSC, Mohammad Mumtaz Ali said that General Administrative Department (GAD) had forwarded the posts as well as the requisite eligibility of candidates as per SRO-103 of 2018. "JKPSC has advertised the posts and it is up to the GAD to finalize the age limit and not with PSC," he said. The GAD Commissioner Secretary Khurshid Ahmed Shah said that the rules would be amended according to which the age limit might have been reduced. About the demand of aspirants for age relaxation, Shah said that he would look into the matter and take necessary action if required. |
