Jammu, June 7: : The Anganwari workers and helpers of Jammu division continued their protest demonstration today in connection with their long pending demands. Large number of workers gathered here under the banner of Aganwari Workers and Helpers Union Jammu and Kashmir and held protest demonstration to press the government for their long pending demands. Raising slogans, the protesters warned to intensify the agitation in case the demands were not conceded immediately by the Government. The protesters demanded enhancement of honorarium of Anganwari workers and helpers at par with the States of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi where the per month honorarium given to a worker is Rs 10,000. Addressing the protesters, the speakers condemned the anti workers policies of the State Government and higher authorities of ICDS who are only making a lip sympathy with the Anganwari workers and doing nothing on the ground. The other demands highlighted by them included regularization of Anganwari workers and helpers, release of honorarium of workers and helpers pending for last eight months, issuance of final seniority list, implementation of new pension scheme and freed group insurance scheme for workers and helpers, etc. They asked the members to be united and undeterred till the logical conclusion of their struggle and end of the gender-biased discrimination. The protestors were addressed by Suman Suri, Union president; Nirmal Sharma, general secretary; Mahjabeen, Monika, Asha Devi, Zaida Beggum, Suman, Pinki Bhat and others. |
