Market checking intensified in Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, June 7: A head of holy festival of Eid and keeping in view of ongoing month of Ramadan, Tehsildar Kishtwar Shokat Hayat Mattoo along with officials of Municipal Committee Kishtwar, CA&PD and police today carried out surprise market checking in Kishtwar town amid complaints that many shopkeepers are charging extra money in the holy month of Ramdan from the customers and also selling unhealthy food items and vegetables. During the inspection, rotten vegetables, sub standard quality of dairy items were destroyed while conducting an inspection of over 150 business establishments/shops for violating the Essential Commodities Act. The defaulters were warned to maintain the required quality parameters and standards.The meat, Poultry shops and sweet shops were also inspected and the owners of such establishments were also warned to maintain the rate fixed and were directed to install the digital weighting machines. Moreover, as a part of campaign to make the town and District Polythene free, 10 kg Polythene bags were also recovered from the shopkeepers and an amount of Rs. 18200 has been compounded as fine and realized from the defaulters on spot. |
