In a bid to check vote bank erosion BJP now blames Mehbooba
6/26/2018 10:36:23 PM
For the BJP, which shared power with
the PDP for over three years, milk is sour enabling it to accuse the PDP of non-adherence to the Agenda of Alliance. And after the BJP President, Amit Shah, held PDP responsible for non-utilisation of central funds to the tune of Rs. 80,000 crore even the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, and party General secretary, Ram Madhav sided with Amti shah. Facts speak otherwise. How much of the Rs.80,000 crores promised by Modi to the state has reached Jammu and Kashmir ? Not much and still the BJP has a nose for digging at Mehbooba for poor utilization of the central Government funds. In fact Mehbooba tried her hard to retain power in coalition with the BJP but like a sacrificial goat the BJP tried to strengthen its vote bank by blaming Mehbooba for all the evils that surfaced in the state including the rise of militancy related incidents.
In a strong rebuttal to the rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah's allegations against her government, PDP President and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has said several "false charges" had been levelled against her party and asserted that her commitment to the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) - Agenda of Alliance (AoA) - never wavered. Breaking her silence on the series of allegations levelled by her former ally, the BJP, on the State government led by her, Mehbooba said it was sad to see the saffron party disown its own initiative and label it a "soft approach"."Many false charges levelled against us by our former allies. Our commitment to the AoA, co-authored by (BJP national general secretary) Ram Madhav & (and) endorsed by senior leaders like (Union Home Minister) Rajnath (Singh) Ji never wavered. It is sad to see them disown their own initiative & label it a 'soft approach," she tweeted
By trying to strengthen its vote bank through wild accusations against the PDP and its President, Mehbooba Mufti, the BJP may run the risk of befooling the people because of its, otherwise, poor performance. Senior BJP leaders blame Mehbooba for promoting regional discrimination by ignoring Jammu and Ladakh regions. What was the BJP leadership doing all these years. Despite the fact that BJP had its ministers in the council of ministers did they do anything to voice resentment? certainly not. Even the Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, who held the portfolio of power failed to provide uninterrupted power supply to the people in the torrid region of Jammu. While people in Kashmir had the upper hand in sharing seats in the Government departments but did the BJP raise a voice or two. Not to the memory of the staunch followers of the BJP. If the BJP blames Mehbooba for failing to tackle growing militancy related violence the BJP should know it better than anyone else that Pakistan has been sponsoring insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and the reason for spate in militancy in south Kashmir was to denigrate Mehbooba whose stronghold was the areas in south Kashmir. It was not in the hands of Mehbooba for that matter not in the hands of Omar or Farooq to tame militancy related violence.
