Coalition politics in India is it dharma or drama? | | Prof. Kali Dass | 6/27/2018 10:53:19 PM |
| India attains its democratic republic character on 26th Jan. 1950 after adoption of wonderfully written constitution based on humanist principles of Liberty, Equality & Fraternity. As has been claimed, Congress the main political group that helped the most in attaining freedom took over the reins of free India on 15th August 1947. This was due to the fact that Congress was the only political outfit available at that time to run the affairs of free India. It had different caste, religious and ethnic group aspirations. As India progressed and marginalized groups stared attaining education and understanding the values of political power as well as noticing hegemony of micro minority led by Brahmins in the educational, social, economic and political spheres, these groups started asserting socially and politically. The most active amongst them were Dalits and the BCs, collectively labeling themselves as Moolnivasi-Bahujans. Their prolonged subjugation and relegation to the most inferior position in social-educational and economical hierarchy and constitutional provisions compelled them to assert educationally, economically and politically as well. Alleged dictatorial style of function of late Indra Gandhi clubbed with the above aspirations led to emergence of JP movement, BAMCEF movement and speedy assertion of RSS & other right wing groups. This led to emergence of JP, BSP, JD, SP, BJP and many other regional political outfits aspiring for share in governance of the country, that remained monopoly of Brahminical led micro minority of this country till 1989. There emerged so many coalition government both ideologically parallel and opposite too. The examples are JD-Congress, BSP-SP, BSP-BJP. The most potent ideologically balanced combination was BSP-SP coined by Kanshi Ram that failed due to ego of few in both coalition partners. Similarly the most opposing coalition combination, BSP (Ambedkarite Ideology-anti Brahminical) & BJP (Pro-Brahminical) lasted two small terms. They all justified these coalition governance as COALITION DHARMA based on aspirations of people. But the most surprising amongst all these combinations of so called COALITION DHARMA was the one coined by Modi-Mufti duo after hic coughs for three months post elections, on 1st March 2015, when people of J&K vertically divided the state in political system. BJP got 25 assembly seats from Jammu region and PDP got 28 seats (26 from Kashmir & 02 from Jammu). Fundamentally, both these extremist forces coined the coalition government under so called COALITION DHARMA and framed Agenda of Alliance (AOA) with essence of so called SAB KA SATH SAAB KA VIKAS. The agenda of Vikas failed on many occasions during Mufti led coalition. After Mufti's on 7th January 2016, Mehbooba refused to form this Coalition Dharma Government for 03 years that in fact was COALITION DRAMA government. NC started flexing muscles to come in alliance with BJP as another Coalition Drama or Dharma politics but Mehbooba was pressurized by both BJP as well as PDP politicians to form Dharma/Drama government once again. In last 02 years so many dramas happened between the two coalitions partners that people of the state from across the three regions thought that this so called Dharma and in reality the Drama coalition is going to break, but it did not happened. Both partners were losing grounds in their respective constituencies. AOA was total failure, article 370 abrogations were in back burners, boarder migrations and repeated cease fire violations were at peak. But amidst all this, BJP preferred to go for cabinet reshuffle, probably to befool its impatient and unrest MLAs aspiring for ministerial berths and to side line allegedly corrupt ministers. After 49 days of cabinet reshuffle BJP preferred to pull out this COALITION DHARMA governance seat. But, why BJP who was both the times instrumental in making the coalition government with PDP, pulled out from the coalition? First it made an unholy alliance with PDP, it had ample opportunities to come out of government on so many occasions in the past, its ministers failed, its policies vis a vis Jammu failed miserably. Why it continued? Ultimately, Ram Mandhav; the main architect of the coalition while announcing BJP's withdrawal from PDP, it put forth all laughing stock reasons for withdrawing from the coalition, that were existing since last 04 years. He was wrongly justifying wrong doings of the BJP. Now it is up to the people of the state to decide, whether it was a COALITION DHARMA or COALITION DRAMA. The coalition politics in India should be a Dharma Politics in view of aspirations of different social groups for SAB KA SATH SAB KA VIKAS and not Drama Politics that in fcat leads to SAB KA SATH SAB KA VINASH. |
