Notorious drug peddler held with 100 gram heroin | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 27: In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevni', against drug peddlers, launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu-Vivek Gupta, Gandhi Nagar police today claimed to have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered 100 gram heroin from his possession worth Rs 2 lakh. Police spokesman said that today police party from Gandhi Nagar police station established a naka near Shamshan Ghat Chowk Shastri Nagar Jammu for checking/ frisking of vehicles. "When the police party was checking/frisking the vehicles one pedestrian coming towards naka on seeing the police party tried to escape in suspicious circumstances but the in-charge naka assisted by other officials chased and caught hold of him", said spokesman adding that during questioning he disclosed his name as Ishtiaq Ahmed of Rajdhani, Tehsil Thanamandi in Rajouri. Spokesman further added that on checking 20 grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of the arrested accused person. "Accordingly a case under FIR No. 145/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started", said spokesman. It is pertinent to mentioned here that the arrested accused is a notorious drug peddler who was earlier also arrested with 100 grams of heroin in a case under FIR No. 88/2017 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act registered in Gangyal police station. The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia SH0 Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Rohit Bhagat and ASI Shesh Pal of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Sandeep Choudhary. |
