Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 5: There seems no end to growing resentment in the PDP as MLA Noorabagh and former minister Abdul Majeed Padroo Thursday resigned from the party. Since the BJP pulled out from the alliance, several PDP MLAs have revolted against the PDP leadership. Former PDP minister and MLA Pattan Imran Raza Ansari and his uncle Abid Raza Ansari held Mehbooba Mufti responsible for the fall in the PDP-BJP government in the state. Another PDP leader and MLA Tangmarg Mohammad Abbas Wani also came in support of Imran, while MLA Noorabagh, Abdul Majeed Padroo resigned from the party. "I have resigned from the PDP. I have not decided which party I may join. However, if any party seeks my support for government formation, I may support that," Padroo told Early Times. Sources said that there are several disgruntled PDP MLAs, who are unhappy with the party and are mulling to stage a walk out. "These disgruntled MLAs are also being approached by few political parties," a PDP leader said. "You will see more resignations in the coming days," he said. Disgruntled PDP leader and MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari claimed that atleast 14 party legislators are mulling to leave the party. Abid claimed that Abdul Majeed Padroo, Mushtaq Shah, Haq Khan, Ashraf Mir, Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Rahim Rather, Shahid Tantary, Chowdhary Qamar Ali, Javaid Beigh, Mohammad Abbas Wani were in the dissent list. Leading the revolt against Mehbooba, Imran Ansari, who was a minister in her government, called her "incompetent" and accused her of nepotism. A day earlier, his uncle Abid made similar charges against the former CM. Imran claimed that Mehbooba was giving least importance to party MLAs. "She only used to listen to the advice of her relatives, who were in her inner coterie," he had said. "Mehbooba's incompetence as a leader resulted in the failure of the government machinery," he said. Imran, the former IT and Higher Education Minister said, "PDP and the government had off late been reduced to a family opera where the brothers, the uncles, the aunties and other relatives would play protagonist and to continue with such a party was not only useless but a humiliation too." Meanwhile, Mehbooba is likely to return on Saturday after which she is going to hold a meeting to decide the fate of disgruntled MLAs. There are speculations that BJP was working to flock legislators from different parties to form the government. |
