100 lecturer posts vacant in district Kathua | Less wages keep youth away from contractual posts | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 5: The government's tall claims of improving the standard of education in its schools, several schools of summer zone in district Kathua has exposed their claims where nearly hundred lecturer posts of various subject are lying vacant, despite appointment of more than thousand lecturers in previous year. Reliable sources in department concern told Early Times that in Feb 2018 the school education department Kathua, has invited application for lecturer posts on academic arrangement of winter zone. Surprising no candidate had applied in Math and Physics. Four months on, academic session started in winter zone but till date both subject lecturers have not been appointed in few schools. Sources further said that the winter zone schools of district Kathua situated in far flung area. The meager emoluments being paid to contractual lecturers has been resulting in failure of government to even fill lecturer posts on contractual basis in those schools which directly effect studies. "The school education department has paid a little amount, to those contractual lecturers which is lesser than the basic salary of permanent appointees and is the only reason that the unemployed education youth do not show interest in teaching line", sources said. These Schools are situated scores of kilometres away from district headquarter and the amount paid by government is not sufficient because it is spent for transportation. Another reason, the academic arrangement of the candidate shall automatically cease or stand cancelled when the post is filled up on regular basis by the PSC, DPC or by effective transfer by higher authorities, so that the youth are not interested to appear for these posts. Chief Education Officer, Kathua, Bishan Singh accepted and said that like every year, the department is going to fill up the vacant posts of lecturers of summer zone through academic arrangement. Singh further said that few posts of Math and Physics lecturers are yet not filled because no candidate applied for these posts in February. Now, the department has again invited applications for the posts. |
