Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 1: A local court today issued non-bailable warrants against former Higher Education Minister Abdul Gani Malik in a case of dis-honouring of cheque. Mohammed Iqbal Mir son of late Ghulam Rasool Mir resident of house number 580/JMC Sultanpura in Janipur lodged a complaint against the Ex-Minister Malik under section 138 and section 142 of negotiable instruments Act 1881 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jammu. Acting on the complaint, the court issued non-bailable warrants against former Minister for Higher Education Abdul Gani Malik resident of village Lalana in Mahore, Reasi and directed police to produce him before the court on August 3, 2018. "The accused former minister Malik had barrowed 18 lakhs from me and in discharge of his legal enforceable liability to which accused owed to me issued three cheques six lakhs each drawn on J&K Bank, Residency Road, Jammu", said the complainant. It was alleged in the compliant that the cheque was presented before the J&K Bank, Branch Janipur where the complainant holds the account, but the said bank returned the cheque with the memo on June 27, 2016 citing a reason of returning as 'funds insufficient.' The complaint further reads that the complainant repeatedly requested the accused to deposit the amount but the money was not deposited forcing the victim knock the doors of court. |
