Jammu, Aug 1: A workshop was organized by Anisha Safaya, founder of Disha, to discuss about various challenges confronting women in strife torn Jammu and Kashmir. Workshop was held at Chamber of Commerce Conference hall. All the women participants identified problems faced by women in state and steps that can be initiated to overcome those problems. Participants discussed that how women are becoming the victims due to domestic violence, social practices, armed conflict and militancy in the state. "They are not only suffering from penetrating humiliation and harassment but also suffering from shocking experiences with continued depression that left them mentally ill," revealed one of the participant. Workshop focussed that how conflicting situation in Jammu and Kashmir has snatched the women's right and hit their hardship. "The researcher used the secondary sources of data and came to the conclusion that women in many regions of Jammu and Kashmir are still facing the issues and challenges related to education, health, domestic violence, politics, declining sex ratio, state violence, dowry harassment, eve teasing, unequal wage, child labour and female feticide and infanticide etc," said Anisha Safaya. The other women participants who spoke at length and gave their suggestion during workshop included Advocate Gazal A. Arora, Dr. Pallavi Arora, Assistant professor, ICCR & HRM, University of Jammu, Dr.Sapna Kamal Sangra, State Chairperson, Spic macay, Rupa gupta Joint director Model Institute of Education and Research B.C Road, Jammu, Dr Sunniya Wani, DSP crime branch, Jammu, Jaspreet Kour, Sunita Pandit, cultural cell of the Directorate of School Education Jammu.
