Terrorists trigger IED blast to target Army vehicle
9/16/2018 11:18:35 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sep 16: Terrorists late last night made a bid to blow up an Army vehicle at Heff in Shopian area of the valley, besides opening heavy volume of fire on the troops. Official sources said terrorists triggered an IED blast when an armoured vehicle (Casper) of 44 RR was passing through the Heff area. They, however, failed in their attempt. Soon after the blast, the terrorists, who were hiding nearby, fired upon the vehicle from a distance.
However, following retaliation by the troops, who were in the vehicle, the terrorists fled the spot, the sources added. There was no report of any casualty on either side. Reinforcements reached the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. While a massive 'seek and destroy' operation was launched to hunt down the escaped terrorists, the forces could not get any clue to their whereabouts. A tight vigil was being maintained in the area. Though some suspects were questioned, there was no report of any of them having been taken into custody by the forces. It is suspected that terrorists either managed to flee the area before the troops launched searches or they got a shelter in some 'sleeper cell'. Sleeper cells are said to have mashroomed in the valley to provide hideouts to terrorists. These are being run by the sympathisers of terrorists and the over ground workers of terror outfits.
