RTI activist alleges encroachment on state land | Officials maintain criminal silence | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 28: Despite repeated orders for eviction of state encroached land by different courts, the administration of Sub Division Akhnoor is seemingly shielding the alleged land grabbers after several complaints were filed before them from time to time, alleged a Right to Information (RTI) activist. As per RTI activist, the office of the Block Development Officer in a reply of an RTI application revealed that in November 2017, BDO Akhnoor issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) for taking over the land measuring 50 kanals under khasra number 931 from Krishan Pal Singh (KP Singh) for the period of ten years with effect 15 November 2017 to 15 November 2027 for installation of hot mix plant by the Border Roads organization (BRO). The RTI activist further alleged that the then Block Development Officer in connivance with the revenue authorities allowed the installation of hot mixing plant on khad land in violations of laid down rules. He further said that he had repeatedly approached the office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Akhnoor with written complaints for detailed inquiry in this matter but they never initiated any probe which vindicated that they too were hand in glove. He further alleged that the work for lying of flood control crates has been also started by the Flood Control and Irrigation Department and the department is also facilitating the encroachers by lying crates in the centre of the Khad instead of corners. |
