Cong fighting civic bodies elections half-heartedly
9/28/2018 11:01:39 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 28: Lackluster approach being adopted by the party in fighting Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections is an indication that Congress has conceded defeat much before the final fight. Instead of seriously fighting elections, Congress has half-heartedly joined the electoral battle.
Earlier Congress leadership was in dilemma whether to contest election or follow lines of NC and PDP but after being forced to fight elections, Congress leadership failed to give a spirited fight and most of the party candidates are approaching people alone without any support from the senior leaders.
On the one hand, BJP has deputed its national general secretary Ram Madhav to supervise elections in J&K, no senior Congress leader has so far visited the State. Even PCC chief G A Mir and other senior leaders are inactive and they have virtually gone in hibernation.
Credible sources said that PCC chief G A Mir was not interested to participate in the elections because he wanted to follow footsteps of NC and PDP to save his constituency in Kashmir Valley but due to pressure from Jammu region he was forced to join electoral battle. Secondly from the day one there is feeling among Congress leadership has party is not going to win elections so they are fighting the battle half-heartly and has left candidates on their own.
