Naeem demands 'Glasnost' to dismember India
PDP attacks RSS, BJP
9/28/2018 11:00:27 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 28: Desperate PDP has attacked RSS and BJP, and advocated that "Glasnost" be extended to Jammu & Kashmir so that state got out of India.
Former minister and party spokesperson Naeem Akhtar launched a scathing attack on the RSS and the BJP and accused both of betraying Kashmir and sought extension of Glasnost to Jammu & Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention that President Gorbachev's Glasnost had led to the collapse of USSR in 1991 and creation of many new countries out of it.
Referring to the recent speech of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Naeem said "apparently Bhagwat did not see Kashmir as part of the broader challenge of addressing 20 crore Muslims of the mainland. For, he made some focused observations on Kashmir. Specifically, he said that Articles 370 and 35A are not acceptable to RSS".
Attacking the BJP, Akhtar said: "The most striking was the destruction of the coalition that had in fact symbolized the boldest democratic experiment of a Muslim majority state to engage with Bhagwat's India. It was as significant for nation building as the accession of J&K to the Union of India. It could have provided a platform to the centre to build confidence not just with estranged Kashmir, but also with Muslims in the mainland as a show window of inclusion, only if the leadership in Delhi had trusted J&K even with a single clause of the partnership (PDP-BJP agenda of alliance) deed it reached with the PDP. But now with the virtual carpet bombing of mainstream politics in Kashmir, there is a real danger of Kashmir mountains becoming a bunker for the increasingly marginalized, harassed Muslims of India, especially if the state's citizenship is opened to all".
The PDP also attacked National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval for his Mumbai statement that separate Jammu & Kashmir Constitution was an aberration. "The foreboding stems also from the earlier remark by the NSA, Ajit Doval, that the J&K Constitution is an aberration. It is that Constitution that makes me a citizen of India and any constitutional authority from President of India down to a member of legislature or a high court judge draws powers from it so far as the state is concerned. Could it be an aberration or a 70-year-old interpretation of true glasnost?" said Naeem Akhtar.
