Jammu admin to intensify market checking, cleanliness drive ahead of festive season

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 29- Jammu admin is going to intensify market checking and cleanliness drive across the city ahead of festival season.

The LMD and Food Safety squads would conduct regular inspections to keep check on overcharging and quality of food items including sweets, fruit and dairy products sold in the market. The checking squads have been asked to keep close watch on the unfair trade practices including adulteration of food and dairy stuff.

The administration has also asked the JMC and development department to activate their men and machinery to maintain cleanliness and repair and renovate lanes, drains and roads in the city and its peripheries.

The directions were given by deputy commissioner Ramesh Kumar while discussing the arrangements for ensuing Navratra, Ramnavami and Dussehra festivals here at a meeting of senior officers and members of religious organizations.

Deputy Commissioner asked the JMC to ensure proper sanitation and street lightening in and around city temples, while PHE department was asked to provide adequate water supply at these temples for the convenience of the devotees.

Power Department was directed to ensure uninterrupted power to all the temples in the city. The department was also asked to ensure adequate power supply during the festival days.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned departments to make adequate medical facilities, adequate security arrangements and provision for extra transportation for the convenience of the people during the festival days.

Ramesh Kumar said that the main aim of organizing the Navratra and Dussehra festivals is to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Jammu region and all the steps have been taken by the administration and the organizers of the festival to make the event a grand success.
