| Reasi school forces students to clean toilets, get firewood | | |

reasi, Oct 9: In brazen violation of norms, Government Middle School Dadva( Doogi) staff in Pouni area here has been allegedly forcing the schoolchildren to do odd jobs including cleaning toilets and collection of firewood for preparation of midday meals.
While taking a video, Early Times team found that schoolchildren were being seemingly forced to do jobs which hampers their studies.
While some students were cleaning toilets others were collecting firewood for preparation of midday meals. The students said they were doing it on the instructions of the school staff.
The area locals said the school has become infamous for forcing children to labour. "The school staff even takes students for domestic work at their residences and the main reason behind this mess is that the Education department has been silent on complaints in this regard," said a delegation of locals.
"When a cook is there to prepare midday meals why are our kids made to get firewood," the locals asked.
When contacted officials said the matter would be looked into.
Meanwhile the Pouni residents have appealed Governor SP Malik to personally look into the matter. |
