Biodiversity awareness camp held at Manda | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 13: A biodiversity awareness camp was organized by Department of Zoology Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar, Jammu in collaboration with Wildlife Protection department and Department of Environment & Remote Sensing. Students from Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu participated in large number. Shahzaad Chowdhary Wildlife Warden, Jammu briefed the students regarding facilities for the rescued animals and veterinary treatment available at Manda. Working of the Wildlife Protection Department giving detail of challenges and measures being taken was explained to the students by Wildlife Warden Amit Sharma. The exposure trip was followed by a symposium at Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC) of Wildlife Protection Department in which a number of students presented their views regarding biodiversity and wildlife conservation. Chief Guest of the occasion Suresh Kumar Gupta Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K advised the students to plant atleast one sapling on every important occasion and spread the message with regard to wildlife and biodiversity conservation in the society. He appealed through students to spread the messages that wildlife animals like monkeys should not be fed by the people. The programme was attended by Dr. Satinder Kour Head Department of Zoology Government PG College from Women alongwith the faculty Dr Savi Behl, Dr. Sanjeet Kour, Dr Anupama Pandotra, Dr Ashma Gupta and Dr. Niha Antal. In the symposium Ist prize was bagged by Minakshi Thakur followed by 2nd prize by Arushi Singh and 3rd prize was shared by two students namely Haripriya and Mehnaaz. Dr. Satinder Kour presented vote of thanks in the end. |
