Early Times Report

Poonch, Feb 13: Busy in settling their personal scores in government provided accommodations, revenue officials including tehsildar and his sub ordinates give a damn to their offices leaving poor people in the lurch who come from for and near places for their different works in Revenue complex Surankote, sources said here today.
They said people from far off places, and some people covering even several kilometres on foot to reach the Revenue office get disappointed when they found that the Tehsildar was not present in his office. When someone asks where is the officer, he is out for some important work his peon replies. But some privy to Revenue office said that the Tehsildar remains very much in his official residence and settles his personal sources by indulging in mal practices, they added.
People who cover a long distance for their works including issuance of different certificates to students and many other works related to land records etc have to leave the office without getting their work done which costs them a lot but revenue official remains unmoved and continue with their mal practices with out any fear by sitting in their official residences with comfort. They seem to be least bothered about the problems the border people have to face in their day to day life.
While talking to Early Times advocate Majid Khan, Member Bar Association Poonch has termed the Revenue office Surankote as hub of corruption and warned that the menace of corruption in the sub division must end.
Meanwhile social worker Aakash Malik urged the state government and district administration Poonch that the corrupt officials including Tehsildar Surankote be shifted with an immediate effect and a new revenue staff be posted here who shall be able to solve the problems of locals, he added.
